I have loved reading this so much, and with slight awe that we have been experiencing such parallel times of choosing to pause in our work - we are so very similar! I was also struck by your description of your chosen place to sit as a refuge. Thank you - I am glad to learn of Radio Lento - and I have been searching recently for a poem which speaks of autumn to me, finding none which were quite resonating - but the one you have shared is perfect!

I am so pleased that the post resonated with you. I am still feeling a moment of panic, just before posting, about whether what I am saying makes any sense, so this is such a delight to read. Thank you very much.

Deborah, I love your writing, your book and listen to recommendations, and have been reading them out to Michael and Lil. We love your tips about writing down lovely things you experience when painting and sketching. Jude x

I love the Calm app and often choose to listen to the rain on leaves to meditate or fall asleep to - I’ll be searching up radio lento now! I did see the recording of a similar radio station during a nature program some time ago - such a lovely idea 🧡 x

I have tried the Calm app, but sadly it didnt do the trick! (though I know it is helpful to so many.) I love Radio Lento as the podcast is constantly being updated and the recordings are really beautiful x

I think there might be a biography of him out relatively recently? Have you seen of/read it? Xxx

The one I have read, and thought was brilliant, is " The man who went in to the west" by Byron Rogers.

Very wise words, Deborah. Thank you for sharing with us. I didn't realise you lived so near to RD's neck of the woods .... love that book. Thank you also for the RS Thomas poem, which is new to me. That's going in my poetry journal. Already looking forward to your next post. Xxx Sarah

Thank you so much for reading it. I love that poem. It is one I used to teach ,partly because the imagery is so accessible, but it perfectly captures that moment when, while doing something quite mundane and your mind is quiet, you see something afresh.

I once had Roger Deakin go past me on a country lane in his Morris Minor and was thrilled!
