Thank you so much for finding Kizzy on YouTube. The Diddakoi by Rumer Godden was one of my favourite childhood books. In fact I love all her books - Miss Happiness and Miss Flower, Little Plum, An Edosode of Sparrows, The Greengage Summer and more! I don’t have Covid but I am exhausted after preparing for and helping to organise the first art exhibition I have ever taken part in and this was a perfect way to spend the evening. I do hope you feel better soon and thank you again for all your lovely recommendations.
I am so pleased for you and hope it is the first of many!
I have discovered Rumer Godden only recently but intend now to read them all. I noticed that there are two volumes of autobiography too, so there is lots to feast on.
I was so struck by how relevant the themes of " Kizzy" are today and how it really hasn't dated. I thought it enchanting.
Alan looks like a lovely chap! With a big personality.
I was an avid watcher of Kizzy when I was young, I'd forgotten all about it by now but I think I still have the book somewhere. I do hope you are soon fully better, whilst also able to retain the comforting watches and reads! xx
I hope you're soon feeling much better, Deborah. Oh, Kizzy! I loved it (I was 10!) on TV and the book, too. I wanted to BE Kizzy. I lost my copy of the book years ago but have bought it again recently- it's just as charming and warm as I remember.
I don't know how I missed it as a child as I would have loved it. I ordered an old Puffin this morning and I am so looking forward to reading it. She is such a wonderful writer.
Hope you feel better soon, Deborah. I remember Kizzy now that you've mentioned it. There is also a film based on An Episode of Sparrows, I think called Innocent Sinners. It's rather lovely film--I think I might have caught it on Talking Picture TV one lazy afternoon.
Sending you much healing. X
Thank you very much, I am beginning to feel much better.

You have a reat to come, reading them for the first time. They are books I reread over the years.
It is a rare treat to discover a new writer I love so much!
I hope you are on the mend Deborah.
Thank you, Gina, I am finally getting there!
I hope you heal well! We have been sick all week here at my house, I feel your pain! Take care! ❤️
thank you, Jenn, and do hope things are improving there!
We are improving, I’m happy so say. Thank you so much!
that is good news!
I hope you are improving, too ❤️

Yes! I looked her up too. I thought she was remarkable.
The second mention of Rumer Godden I’ve seen today! I very much enjoyed reading Tottie, but I must look in to some of her other books 📚
I have just discovered her and am enchanted! I must read more.
Hope you feel better soon Deborah xxx
Thank you, Julia xx
Sorry to hear you are still under the weather, hope you will be feeling much better very soon!
Thank you. My neighbour was as right as rain after a couple of days and I have been floored! Hopefully I will now be full of antibodies xx
I'm so sorry to hear you had Covid, Deborah. Look after yourself and I hope you're back to full fitness soon.
Thank you very much.
Dear Deborah, get well soon! Sending best wishes
Thank you, Laura x

Lovely recommendations Deborah, & I hope you're well & truly on the mend now. I look forward to next week's post.
Thank you! I do hope it gives in very soon.
Hope you’re feeling better Deborah! I remember watching Kizzy - ooh that’s taking me back!!
I wish I had known of it then, but it was wonderful to watch now, curled up on the sofa. Thank you x

I found it last night on YouTube and loved it - thank you. The little girl who played Lovejoy was remarkable and seemingly did very little after it.
Yes! I looked her up too and saw she didn't really do anything else. I thought she was remarkable.
I shall look up the film as I would love to see it. Isn't she a marvellous writer and thankfully I have lots more to discover.
I remember Kizzy vaguely - children's TV in the 70s! Showing my age now.
Mine too! I find it very sad that children's programme no longer exist as they did then. I was amazed how well "KIzzy" has stood the test of time.
